During the Art Deco period, more was more, and elongated diamond rings that flattered the hand like this were all the rage. Dubbed “dinner rings” they were distinct from wedding and engagement rings, and often had exuberant designs featuring openwork and colored accent stones. This is an especially enthusiastic example, measuring 1 3/8” long. Fashioned from platinum, it holds 1.50 total carats in antique diamonds, and an additional .50 carats of sapphires. This ring is reallllly good on the hand. Platinum ca. 1930. Current finger size 6.5.
