This gentle beast is definitely more interested in smelling the flowers than fighting. Our nicely detailed bullish friend is mysterious, too. He seems to be carved into black glass, but the material actually shows a very deep cobalt blue when lit strongly from behind. Long story short, this could be an ancient Roman carving, or something done closer to when the classically elegant mounting was made. We don’t know the age, but we know it’s sensational on the hand. 14k yellow gold. Mounting ca.1930, intaglio ca.?? Current finger size 7.25.
