This graphic wonder of a pendant pairs sterling silver with niello- an unusual alloy material popular during the Victorian era. Dark and moody with a soft charcoal-hued gleam, niello inlay was used to create all sorts of bold geometric designs in silver items that were popular with both men and women. This horseshoe pendant really plays with the high contrast material, with touches of hand engraving and a warm, aged, patina. A distinctive and captivating ornament. measures about 1 1/4” from the top of the oval jump ring. Sterling silver and niello, ca.1890. Chain not included.
